Product description

Diana forage sugar beet is used as a palatable forage crop for deer. The foliage grows similarly to sugar beet, but is taller, more lush, and also more palatable.

The root of the forage beet grows larger than that of sugar beet, and only the tip grows into the ground, so animals can easily pull the root out of the soil. Plant height 60–70 cm. Overly dense stands must be thinned. Leave 5–6 plants per meter of row. Once frost sets in, the succulent roots can be harvested in the fall and stored in piles for winter feeding of deer. The soil must be in good growing condition, similar to that for sugar beets. Sow by broadcast seeding onto a moist surface, e.g., using a Solo seeder. For row seeders, use Diana Ruokintajuurikas, which is pelleted. Remember NPK fertilization.

Used in annual biodiversity fields, sown in strips, for example, with fodder kale. EU subsidy €300/ha.

Variety: Ursus, poly seed

Dosage: 2–4 kg/ha
