Product description
The Origopro M05 Frost Pattern / M05 Snow Pattern Sissitakki blends you into the leafless, frost-covered landscape of late autumn and keeps you warm
Whether you’re an avid hunter, hiker, or just want a reliable and warm jacket for cold weather, this jacket is a sure choice if you want to stay warm.
The M05 Frost Pattern/M05 Snow Pattern commando jacket is designed to be lightweight and easy to carry as a break jacket. It packs down to a small size and weighs only about one kilogram. The jacket is sized to be worn over other clothing.
The jacket can be worn as a long jacket, in which case it also protects the thighs and legs, or it can be buttoned to hip length for easier movement. As a reversible jacket, it can be worn either way.
The M05 cold-weather pattern blends into the leafless, frost-covered forest terrain of late autumn, while the M05 snow pattern helps you blend into the snowy forest in winter. Many users wear the M05 Frost pattern jacket as an outer layer over other clothing during late-autumn moose hunts, and in winter, the M05 Snow pattern jacket is worn with the snow side facing out during capercaillie and lynx hunts.
Mikko Kettunen of Karu Survival was caught in a snowstorm during his hiking trip in Scotland in 2021. Other groups on the same trail who were not prepared for the cold weather had to be rescued by helicopters. Unaware of the rescue operation, the Finnish survival skills instructor survived the nighttime storm in his sleeping bag, wearing a guerrilla jacket that provided extra protection.
It is no coincidence that this jacket has gained such popularity. Its design incorporates feedback and improvements, as well as field tests in real-world conditions. Every detail has been carefully considered: the choice of materials, the use of colors, the insulation properties, and even the jacket’s cut and fit. The result is a jacket that is not only functional but also comfortable and durable.
Whether you’re an avid hunter, hiker, or simply want a reliable and warm jacket for cold weather, this jacket is a sure choice. Choose the M05 Frost Pattern/M05 Snow Pattern Commando Jacket and see for yourself why this jacket, originally designed for special forces, is such a popular choice for a wide range of uses.
The M05 Frost Camo/M05 Snow Camo commando jacket isn’t just a piece of clothing—it’s an investment in comfort, safety, and performance. It is built to last, retain its color, and look great even after years of use.
History of the M05 Pattern
The M05 pattern was developed by the Finnish Defense Forces in collaboration with the Finnish Forest Research Institute. The Finnish Forest Research Institute took photographs of various forest types found in Finland and the Northern Hemisphere. The image mosaic was simplified into a four-color pattern. A dark gray color was added to convey the impression of shadows forming in the forest.
The same pattern is repeated in all M05 print patterns; only the colors vary. In the M05 frost pattern, the light green of the deciduous trees in the M05 forest pattern has been replaced with frost gray. The M05 snow pattern is printed on a snow-white background using the dark gray pattern from the M05 forest pattern.
In addition to the compatibility of the visible wavelengths of the colors with the forest terrain, the fabric uses special IR-compatible colors, which means that even at infrared wavelengths invisible to the human eye, the reflections are the same as in a Finnish forest. As a result, when viewed through infrared binoculars or in an image taken with an infrared camera, the user blends into the forest landscape, making it more difficult to distinguish the user from the background. It has thus been scientifically proven that the Finnish Defense Forces’ M05 pattern blends into the Finnish forest better than any other terrain or hunter pattern.
Materials
The SurRes Sissitakki 2.0 is made of carbon fiber-reinforced polyamide ripstop fabric (98% PA, 2% carbon), which ensures it withstands even the most demanding conditions.
The super-lightweight carbon fiber also makes the fabric electrically conductive, preventing the buildup of static electricity.
The jacket is insulated with US-made Climashield® Apex 3oz (102g/m²) 100% hollow-fiber polyester, which guarantees maximum thermal insulation even in cold weather. The same insulation is also used by the U.S. Army in its sleeping bags and extreme winter gear. The insulation is made of long filament fibers arranged in crisscross layers, which means it does not need to be quilted to the lining fabric but can be sewn along its edges to the seams of the outer shell. In terms of CLO thermal rating, it is 2.5 times warmer than the insulation in the Finnish Defense Forces’ original jacket.
Sissitakki, kääntötakki, kieppitakki, taukotakki, passitakki—this popular jacket has many names.
A size 2XL jacket weighs 990 g and fits into a 10 L packing bag.
The jackets feature a 30×90 mm Velcro patch on the front placket.
